Welcome to the downloads page, where I've included downloads to various rule sets for Table Soccer. Including some original 50's 60's and 70's Subbuteo rules. I've also included my Bonfire Alliance League and Match Rulebook which is my attempt at formulating solo rules based mainly on the former.
There is also a download link below to the FISTF, and WASPA rules, which many of tournaments are played in the modern era, as well as a download of the Old Subbuteo Rules which is very big in Italy.
I've also included the Westford Solo Rules System as discussed in the July 2023 post. 
 
Every download is in PDF format, and should open into your browser. Any navigation links in the PDF's will only work once downloaded.  
 
These are the rules for next season that I intend to play. This Version (15) includes a slight alteration to the blocking and onside flicks, as well as a slightly modified goal kick placement rule. After a little deliberation I've also included direct free kicks. There's also an appendix with some alternate rules that I currently don't use, but may reappear at a later date.

The Burnley Club has allowed me to make their rules available for download. A very concise set that covers the older rules in great detail.
 
An Italian community who play "Old Style" to these rules with old style player types, they organise Tournaments in Italy, it is also played here in the UK. From what I can make out it's nowhere nears as big as it is in Italy though. They have a Forum  https://oldsubbuteo.forumfree.it/
It's mainly in Italian, but does have an English section. They also have a Facebook group just search Old Subbuteo.

Breaking The Mould

  I’m probably a kind of traditionalist when it comes to Subbuteo, especially when it comes to equipment and rules. We probably all have our favourite player types, and would rather play to rules from a certain era of their evolution. For me that was and still is the late 60’s until the early 80’s. There were 3 main player types each requiring their own particular technique to play to the generally accepted rules of that time. Box set rules at the beginning of that era differed to the competitive scene, but by the end of it they more or less mirrored each other. Solo Players Use What They Know When it comes to solo none of us are tied to any kind of convention, we probably all have our favourite equipment , and have adapted familiar rules to suit our needs. Offside Clear and Obvious?

The Offside rule can be controversial on a football pitch, you’ve only got to see the amount of matches where VAR has ruled heels, toes, etc. offside, but that is another story. in fact the offside rule is quite straightforward, look at the Fifa rules, and offside covers all 4 sections (position, offence, no offence, and sanctions), on 3 pages clearly defined so officials may make a judgement. So why does the Fistf offside rule (to me at least), seem so complicated, I fail to see the logic behind some of the rules in section 13, (of the Fistf rules), and trying to integrate them into a solo game for me just adds confusion. Take a look back to the 60’s or 70’s, even the 80’s Subbuteo rules and life was much simpler. An attacker further forward than the last defender was in an offside position. Some Thoughts On Home Advantage

I’ve just completed another season of my Solo League. Two 8 team divisions, with promotion, relegation, play-offs, a cup competition, as well as a non league element for good measure. 144 games all played throughout the actual football season. All played without any form of advantage, except in some cup games which I’ll touch on later. I’ ve posted in the past about a system, that I worked on with Phil Marsden the owner of the Alive and Flicking Facebook group for assessing, and applying an advantage to each game without changing any in - match rules. A system he seemed to be satisfied with at the time, as it went some way to suiting his immediate needs. He’s now looking to expand on the system in other ways, and I wish him, and anyone else that is looking to add such things into their solo games luck in formulating a system th at suits them .
